Oak Posted September 4, 2020 Report Posted September 4, 2020 Was wondering if anyone knows how heavy the males should be for majors Quote
Reyes Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 Weight doesn't always tell the size of the beetle. Measuring the head is a better idea. Quote
Oak Posted October 30, 2020 Author Report Posted October 30, 2020 Head size doesn't indicate whether or not the larva will turn out to be a major or a minor. There is a reason why breeders weigh their larva. Quote
Dynastes TItyus hunter Posted January 5, 2021 Report Posted January 5, 2021 I don't know but try asking Kevink because he has some Lucanus Elaphus. Quote
kevink Posted January 5, 2021 Report Posted January 5, 2021 The next time I check my elephus grubs, I'll get out the digital scale and post some weights and dates, along with any other information, I'm using more of a forest floor type substrate, not exactly flake, so my grubs are growing a bit slower than I had expected. Ian Posted January 6, 2021 Report Posted January 6, 2021 I've got some weight records on mine, pupal cell formation for presumed females began around 5-6g, and for presumed males between 6-a bit over 8g. When they've finished pupation I'll see if there's a correlation with adult size. Quote
