Goose
Hey guys, I have a sun beetle who escaped a friends snake, it's currently 9 months old. Online it says lifespan of 2-5 months. Is this unusual or can I hope for many more months with the little fella?
Reyes
The lifespan online is the lifespan in the wild. In captivity with proper care they should live longer. I’ve had a Dynastes grantii from last year who lived about 11 months.
BeetlebreederGermany
Hello, it‘s actually very common for Pachnoda spp in to reach ages far longer than their wild counterparts in captivity. For Pachnoda marginata ssp&hybrids 10-12 months are commonly recorded, I have had a (unmated) Pachnoda sinuata cf. calceata female which hatched last September and only died a few weeks ago. 5-8 months livespan is far more fitting for most Pachnoda in captivity. Best Regards, BeetlebreederGermany
