I_want_hopei Posted August 21, 2020 Report Posted August 21, 2020 Now I understand why they are so expensive Quote
aspenentomology Posted August 21, 2020 Report Posted August 21, 2020 I assume you're talking about making flake soil, but as someone who lives in an area with lots of pine, collecting hardwood leaves has become the bane of my existence (I wish I could just rake them up by the bag-full like everyone else, but I instead have to pick them out by hand to avoid the pine needles). So frustrating! But I suppose the things we do for beetles is ultimately worth it Quote
The Mantis Menagerie Posted August 22, 2020 Report Posted August 22, 2020 I have three 5-gallon buckets fermenting in the attic. Hoping they finish before it gets cooler up there. My Lucanus elaphus breeding was way too successful, and I am completely out of flake soil and can only make it in summer. Quote

Smoclers Posted August 26, 2020 Report Posted August 26, 2020 I just made my first batch as well! I don't have any beetles at the moment, but once this is fermented I hope to have some Euphoria fulgida or some Chrysina maybe. I'm looking forward to getting into this hibby! Quote
