STELLAR
Hello, I'm from Northern New Jersey, just along the New York state border. I'm planning a collecting trip with my girlfriend to find dynastes Tityus in the wild. The question is where do we go? We would like to search gas stations near wooded areas at night. We are trying to pick what states to visit and where in this states. We looked at Dare County, North Carolina, and would be interested in visiting Maryland too. I'm really hoping to hear from someone who regularly finds these in the wild.
Bugboy3092
Go to SC and GA if you want to find plentiful, large specimens. You can seriously find them in the middle of Buckhead (near Atlanta)!!
Stag Beetles
Is it best to search near lights at night, under logs by day??
Bugboy3092
Dynastes usually aren’t found under logs, but are found in tree holes. And yes it is best to search at lights at night, gas station lights are usually the best.
