So I've tried my luck at using a UV light in my backyard and caught a ton of some kind of June beetle (I will post pics as soon as I find out how,) a grapevine beetle, and a Cotinis Nitida. Does anyone have any tips on catching different species? I am trying to get more grapevine beetles and more C. Nitida but after a week I haven't had much luck... any help? Thanks!

maybe its the end of the season already.

I thought Cotinis Nitida is June beetle? I see thousands of them beetles flying from late June to early July. (from NC to PA)

they are usually flying on top of grasslands, several will fly into my windshield while I was driving. You can find them at rest areas along highways too. sometimes you will see them in the grass, cramped up like a ball. probably a bunch of males fighting for a female. (day time)

grapevines come out around the same time, you see 3~4 per gas station at night.

Looks like you have Lucanus elaphus in some parts of your state! If you ever come across any, please let me know.

Sure thing mate, I'm not all that interested in this species tbh, but I would be happy to keep an eye open for you. If I find some I'll be sure to tell you!

EDIT: This is rather gross but does anyone have any suggestions for dung beetle trapping? I have only caught flys in my bait... dog crap...

I have never felt so ridiculous and questioned my sanity so many times while these setting traps...

It would depend on that types of dungers you are looking for. If you want Phanaeus or Canthon you should try trapping around pasture land or any areas in the country that large animals frequent.

Dog works ok, but pig and human are considered the best.

I would be interested in buying some Cotinis Nitid and grape vine beetles from you and most any other beetles like long horns and dung beetles and lubber grasshoppers, live or dead and I'd also be willing to trade any thing in my for sale add
