Peter Clausen
Good news...my single Hemiphileurus illatus has now laid 9 eggs! I placed a piece of dog food in its container a few days ago and it ate the entire thing in 2 days. I have also been feeding it fruit and sugar-water mixture. Today I blended some of that mixture with some roach guts. Hopefully she eats it up because I don't want to smell it tomorrow

Peter Clausen
Thanks Shoegazer and now they're hatching into surprisingly transparent little larvae!
Dynastes
What are you feeding them, mostly rotten wood or leaves? Is 9 the final total?
Peter Clausen
Wood/leaf mixture of oak (in compost substrate) for larvae. The female is still alive. I've harvested eggs twice now for a total of about 15. Do they need a protein component in the early instars?
Dynastes
I'd avoid any sort of protein for larvae of Phileurini.
Dynastes
What ever happened to these?
Peter Clausen
I'm not sure...I haven't looked at them in a long time which is probably indicative of their status.
