LarvaHunter Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 Tonight I set up my uv light with a white sheet, I am curious if I can get any good species this early in May Last year I started in mid June so this will be an interesting experiment. Its cold out tonight (for me) so I don't know how good it will be, the moon is a waxing crescent now. I prefer darker and warmer nights, but it is dry out which is good. I'll let everyone know how it goes. Quote
pannaking22 Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 Good luck! Hope you get some cool stuff! Quote
LarvaHunter Posted May 6, 2014 Author Report Posted May 6, 2014 I'm in Central Florida. I caught a cool beetle last night, but it is mostly small moths right now, I think within a month more things will start coming out, like longhorn beetles. I'm still trying every night until they arrive. Quote
Twilightpaladin Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Are you set up somewhere specific like a park, or did you just lay out a sheet in the backyard? Quote
pannaking22 Posted May 7, 2014 Report Posted May 7, 2014 Good luck continuing to catch things! I'm hopefully going out tomorrow night to give it a shot with halogen bulbs. Quote
LarvaHunter Posted May 7, 2014 Author Report Posted May 7, 2014 I have it set up in my backyard, I have huge live oak trees all around my house. I am planning to try other areas this year as well. Quote
