GeneralZero
How do you tell your larvae are about to pupate? I know they turn into a yellowish tint, but I was thinking of making an artificial pupation chamber..is that wise? I just wanted to see them "evolve" so to speak. Matt
Which species are we talking about? The larvae of a lot of species are very active when looking for a pupation site, so they may not settle if you put them into an artificial cell. Best thing if you want to try this is to wait untill the larvae have made their own cell and entered the less mobile pre-pupal stage, you can extract them from their cell then they will stay in the artificial cell. Ryan Minard
It will become darker... a nice rich tan. Also it will look slightly wrinkly and "pealy" when it is really close.

Ryan Minard
Ah gotcha..thanks Ryan, how would I go about to making an artificial chamber? Is it safe to do so?? I would talk to Lucanus about that. He has more knowledge on this species. I'd not suggest the use of one personally. I only use those for L elaphus and sometimes random Rutelinae. GeneralZero
Hm..why so? I will message him as I like to acquire the knowledge of it even if I do not go along with it. Thanks for the fast responses!
