Bugsincyberspace.com was awesome!
I found BICS while looking up beetle videos for my 5 year old son to watch when he found his D. tityus. My son become enamored with the Blue Death Feigning Beetles. After the D. tityus passed my husband and I decided we would get some of the BDFBs for him. Sadly everyone was sold out! I thought we could get some other darkling beetles but didn't know what kind would get along. Peter kindly answered all my, I'm sure somewhat annoying
, newbie questions! We ordered several different types of darkling beetles and they all arrived alive, healthy and happy! To our surprise he included an extra 'Stumpy' woolly darkling beetle (my fav!) and one of the sought after and, much loved by my son, Blue Death Feigning Beetles!! The beetles have been fantastic! They are active and interesting. We made a cool little set up for them and my son really enjoys watching them at night when they are the most active before he goes to bed.
My husband and I debated for a while on whether or not to get fish (his great love) or more bugs to replace the D. tityus but we finally chose bugs and we couldn't be happier. I told my moms group about how awesome the beetles have been and how easy they are to care for and I got some pretty interesting reactions.
If any of the moms wish to indulge their child's interest in bugs I will direct them to Bugsincyberspace.com. We will be back to get some more BDFBs and if my son's interest holds true, which I think it will, we will grow in to millipedes when his birthday rolls around this December.
