MAcoleo
Hello, Yesterday I gave my dung beetles a lot of pig dung and they dug it all underground, but today they don't seem as excited about a new shipment of dung. It is a bit chillier and less sunny today. Is this okay? Thanks!
Bugboy3092
Probably, are you keeping them outside?
MAcoleo
Yeah, outside, why? Thanks
Bugboy3092
Well, it’s not really recommended to keep them outside, since it’s not as controlled. If you do, just make sure to keep them outta direct sun, or maybe part of the cage shaded.
Beetle-Experience
Also, depending on how many beetles you have, and how much dung you gave them yesterday, they might not be as hungry. They will pull dung underground quickly but it could take days for them to finish it.
MAcoleo
I thought they take the dung underground to make brood balls out of it?
Beetle-Experience
They eat it there also. They try to quickly bring dung underground to keep it away from flies or other dung beetles (paracoprids do anyway). They either eat it there or build brood balls.
