N__ar Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 how to identify the egg ready to hatch and how to know is it already bad or not?? Quote
Beetle-Experience Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 What type of egg? For most of Scarabaeoidea, you should start to be able to see the larvae developing through the membrane of the egg. The egg should look white to light-yellowish. Bad eggs will usually turn a bad color like black or gray, they can look shriveled and easily grow mold. Quote
N__ar Posted November 23, 2016 Author Report Posted November 23, 2016 mine dark yellow is it ok or not?? Quote
Beetle-Experience Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 Could still be ok. Are they all the same color and do they look smooth? Quote
N__ar Posted November 24, 2016 Author Report Posted November 24, 2016 some of them look smooth and some of then squishy... Quote
Ratmosphere Posted November 24, 2016 Report Posted November 24, 2016 Usually when it gets that color it means the substrate is too moist. Are you sure that your substrate was free of pests? I sometimes hear that earthworm eggs are mistaken for beetle eggs. Just an idea! Quote
N__ar Posted November 25, 2016 Author Report Posted November 25, 2016 i have not seen the earthworm in my substrate because i always sieve it before i use...i think my substrate to wet should i replace the substrate and move it in to different container with fresh substrate?? Quote
Ratmosphere Posted November 25, 2016 Report Posted November 25, 2016 If you want, or let it dry out. Mine was too wet before and the eggs were too yellow. I let it dry and they're fine now so I just lightly mist the substrate daily. Quote
Ratmosphere Posted November 29, 2016 Report Posted November 29, 2016 Let us know how it turns out! Quote
