I have been doing a lot of research of what are the best types of trees to use for stags/rhinos lately but I have come across alot of conflicting info so I would like to know what your experiences are but not necisarally what you have heard on types of wood for substrate. Have any of you produced a major male stag without oak/beech? have any of you guys found stags/rhinos in wood that was clearly not oak/beech? And what are any other experiences that you have had with or without oak/beech?

You can use any wood basically.

I find rhinos in pine down here. It has to be well-rotten but have found Strategus, Dynasties and Phileurus.

When we are looking for larvae down here, that is where we look. Have found both D.t. and S. aloeus that way.
