Tityus grub growth

I recieved 5 early L2 grubs from bugsincyberspace.com at the begining of August. I dug around in the tank today and found one of the grubs at the serface dead! It looked somewhat shrivled and had barely grown since I first got them, but it wasnt at the serface a week ago! I kept digging and found the remaning four very healthy, but one of them was much larger than the others, roughly 30% larger!

Is this sort of growth rate expected or is there a problem with my substrate, tank air-flow, etc???

Could this be foreshadowing of a major set-back in the time of emergence for the smaller three grubs???

The dead one is a concern though it may have just been an unlucky one. The big one you have may just be a molt later than the others and staggered growth isn't a problem within a few months.

Thanks. Sounds like everything is ok. It is interesting though b/c when I first got the grubs, one month ago, they were all the same size. How does one grow that much larger than the others in just one month?

i have the same thing with both granti and tityus, some are still small others are large L3's,must be some media is better quality than others?or some of them eat more of the dogfood i offer than others.

very rewarding species though for sure.

I luckily did not experience any mortality or stunted growth I just want them to hurry up and pupate already!

Best of luck with the rest of your grubs
