Before I could fall asleep, I was distracted by sounds of movement around in the tanks in my room. As I go to move them into the other room, I saw something very odd. In two of the tanks, each male had its elytra up but no wings spread with their underside pulsing. As I got closer, I noticed a brownish discharge spray on the wall behind the tanks, inside of the tanks, and around the tanks. It is then when I look up at my other species and see the same brown discharge but no behavior like the other two males. I also noticed a smell that I never compare to in real life. It was like a sweet/sour odor. The conditions of the enclosures that night were keeping the relative humidity high. What could this situation be? Would it be the males excreting pheromones?
