Phanaeus Vindex Food

Hi! I should be getting some Phanaeus Vindex soon and was having conflicting things come up when I was doing some research. I initially assumed dung was only used for rearing and that they would be fine eating jelly/fruits but I’m having trouble finding anything that supports this besides the bugsincyberspace page.

Any help on what food to use is appreciated! I am committed to providing a good home for them but I want to use dung as a last resort :^)

Scarabaeus, Dichotomius and others can live on substitute foods (not any jelly or fruit) for a normal lifespan but will never make a brood ball without the right dung and caging.

 
Do you mind if I ask where you were able to get them? I’ve been looking for months and haven’t been able to find any!

 
Jellies? Or dung?

Jellies could be found at your local Asian market. There's one 20 mins from me I go to all the time. Also, Titan Monster Beetle Shop sells a lot of them. Just takes a while for them to get to you.

The dung, I'm sure you can go to your local farm and ask. 🤣
