I know this is considered one of the ugly jewel scarabs but it is a very pretty and metallic beetle when alive. I live up north and this is the first adult I've ever caught. I found another one the next evening. Last time I saw any here was about 11 years ago when I found some larvae in a rotten stump root in my lawn from a long dead tree.
