Looking for Dynastes tityus or granti

As well as looking for Dynastes tityus, granti and Lucanus elaphus to buy I also have a few questions on purchasing them. I haven't been successful at all with finding any for sale so is this a bad time of the year to try? If so when is the best time? I'm also worried about the legal side. I've had trouble finding the laws on owning beetles. What large horned beetles are legal in the U.S. other than tityus and granti?

I have heard of people selling Dynastes Granti and Tityus all year round, but usually they sell adults during the summer season, and larvae during "off" seasons. It is harder to find Lucanus Elaphus. Nonetheless, it still is sort of hard to find all of these for sale, though. Keep checking specialty websites.

Tityus and Granti are the only "large horned" dynastes beetles that are genuinely legal to keep in the US, unless you have permits from the USDA which is hard to acquire unless you are associated with university projects, etc.

Are Elaphus legal in the U.S.? Do you happen to know of any specialty sites that sell them that are located in the U.S.?

Lucanus elaphus are native to a number of central and eastern states in the US from Texas to Maryland. They are not protected because, despite the best efforts of local agriculture to wipe them out through habitat destruction, they're still somewhat common. I see grubs up now and then, but right now you're only likely to run across mazama or capreolus grubs.
