Log Living Larva

I would like to go exploring one of these days into some of the forests in the area to find beetles. The species I'm mainly on the lookout for are Lucanini and Dynastini. What other types of larva are found in rotting logs in the US?

There are quite a few darkling beetles that can be found under the bark of dead trees, Coelocnemis, Ipthiminus, Alobates, etc. There are also various fungus beetles that are usually found near rotten wood, you could also find some rove beetles, basically there are a lot of beetles found in rotten wood.
