Found injured larva on sidewalk

I found an injured larva on the sidewalk in the middle of the day. I think its an ox beetle larva. It probably wasn't there for long since if it was ants would have already gotten to it. I was looking at it and noticed it had a small cut on its side. Is there any way this larva could live or would it die? It's my first time posting here 

 
Scarab larvae rarely come above ground. If you saw one on ground, right around lawn or maybe a garden area then the ground is probably been treated with pesticides. A larva eventually will die off there, since it is already been treated.

 
Maybe it's looking for a place to pupate. The chances aren't great but if it is full grown it may changeover fine with the right substrate type/depth/humidity.
