flake soil problems

Hey guys, I recently made some flake soil with a recipe I found online. I put in a plastic bin in my laundry room it gets up to 75F there in the Winter. I haven't been mixing my substrate for 4 days and when I checked it today, it smelled like a rotting banana. I mixed it up anyway and the smell disappeared and the scent turned minty. Is this a good sign or a bad sign? First it started off with smelling like beer and it turned into this minty smell now. Any tips? Please DM

I've never smelled a beer..

Sounds fine to me, but I'm learning as well.

I think letting the mixture rest a few days, is the proper way to get the decomposition you want. rather than mixing it too often.

Just smells like alcohol.

I used  ratmosphere's

The various stinky smells and alcohol are normal. This is part of the fermentation process. Eventually it will have no smell and that's when it's no longer fermenting. It will also start to get darker.
