Exotic Beetles

Hello Everyone and hopefully you are all having a good holiday! Firstly, I am new to the hobby of keeping beetles and i saw some really cool goliath beetles at a reptile show which got me researching all these awesome flower and fruit beetles that appear to only be able to get in the UK? what is the reason behind this and i hope it is not because they are illegal to keep cause i want some very bad haha. thank you in advance.

They are illegal to keep without proper permits. Though Goliathus is legal. I would start with an easy native species.

Just curious since this late in the year I would think there'd only be one breeder with adult D. tityus available because of the number of generations it takes to throw off the cycle and because larvae are usually what is available since they require little investment from the breeder. 

 
1. Reptile permits most definitely don’t work because they would inspect the items, end up finding insects instead of reptiles, then burn/kill them.

2. All insects and various hobby invertebrates are illegal to cross state lines and import without permits, but the government doesn’t care what happens inside the country, they are just focused on imports.

Incorrect on 2. Plenty of insects do not require permits for interstate movement, in general, native/naturalized obligate carnivores and some detritivores, such as native/naturalized millipedes. The issue with restricting/inspecting interstate movements is privacy rights means that packages cannot be inspected in the same way the government can demand at Customs. Insects are small and easily smuggled through mail. 

 
That’s funny, Every USDA person I’ve talked to including my Aunt who works there and the Head Entomologist at USDA says that, every invertebrate that is in the hobby requires a permit, for interstate transport. Many need a USFWS permit.

Here are some published species-level exceptions, but then there are also plenty of general orders/families that do not require permits if native/naturalized. For example, while exotic mantids are illegal, native and naturalized species, such as Brunneria borealis and Tenodera sinensis respectively, have no federal permit requirements. 
My source(s) here are the two primary USDA senior entomologists in charge of issuing the permits to butterfly houses and similar captive collections of exotic insects. 

 
I am aware that there are multiple species that are unregulated otherwise we wouldn’t have feeders available to everyone as well as beneficial pest management. I’m mainly talking about the claim that exotic beetles that are interstate transported are legal to ship without permits.

Sorry, I meant one of those exotic animal ones, most people use them for reptiles so that's why I called them that
