Is the care for Dynastes hyllus much different from Dynastes tityus?

Would a diet of avocado wood be beneficial to them? (I've read that they are often found with avocado trees)

My parents have five avocado trees in their yard in Mexico. Next time they catch a D. hyllus I'll ask them to offer it avocado to see what happens. It doesn't sound like your reading is too far off the mark since avocados are native to Mexico and nearby countries. Then again, lots of fruit trees and trees in general occur in the same areas.

I reared mine on 80% leaves

Besides raising them on 80% leaves, is their care the same as Dynastes tityus?

What do you think about feeding larvae avocado wood, could be of use?

they are probably the easiest of all dynastes to rear. the larvae take 1 year 90% of the time to mature into an adult and are super durable. females lay up to 150 eggs. Although they do live in avocado trees the wood doesn't contain the same nutrients found in larger hardwoods. the larvae would therefore revert back to the natural state of a 2 year life cycle.
