I was sent a few photos of this handsome Cotinis nitida (green June beetle) for identification. Chicago is somewhat far north for this one.

nice bicolor on the leg, just how difficult is it to tell sexes apart with Cotinis?

AAccording to the audubon society north american guide to insects and spiders

Cotinus nitida range form new york to florida through the gulf states north to missouri.In some years I've seen these in numbers. Haven't seen any this year yet.
