I've seen pictures of this species and have seen some info on the net. Anyone have good success with this beetle or photos to share?

Mecynorrhina (Chelorrhina) kraatzi new Taxonomic since 1991

Hello Orin,

the M. kraatzi are a weak species.

The Imago live not long.

The Substrate with more Wood Soil flakes, and the Larva need Protein (L1 Pachnoda or Chlorocala Larva).

Larva are Kanibalistic.

The Puppa Phase is very delicately not to much Humidity, most of them died.

So in the Puppa stadium not more water in the Substrate !

Its a difficult Species to breed, them.

Greetings,

Mashku.

Nice photographs! I'm sorry to hear it has proven very difficult, unlike Chelorrhina polyphemus. It's a very nice looking species.

But, try it.

Maybe you have more luck !

p.s. the Chelorrhina polyphemus called now Mecynorrhina (Chelorrhina) polyphemus...

Greetings,

Mashku.

Sady I imagine I'll never get a chance to try that species here in the states.

..."new" Taxonomy List of the Goliathii or i post it here ?
I'd like to see what you have posted. I'm familiar with the change but I think it should be changed back and may be on the next revision.
