I found a pair of these last year miles apart. This is the male. The female is completely black and has normal antennae. Both have good sized mandibles and were around 20mm. I haven't searched much for identification information but I've never seen this beetle before ever. Anybody familiar with these?
That sure is an interesting catch! The body resembles a Cerambycid, but the antennae look like those of the Polyphylla sp. but it's an entirely different group!
