Hello, i`m the new one, i have a question for you people, i found three lesser stag beetles around my home, but one was like this http://img38.imageshack.us/i/veliki.jpg/ , so i guess that was male adult, but the two other ones looked this http://img199.imageshack.us/i/mali2.jpg/ and http://img199.imageshack.us/i/malit.jpg/ (sorry for the blur my camera isn`t that good to take macro pictures in no light/cloudy conditions) . I don`t know what are those two, are those females?, because they are almost double smaller than the big one(first picture). he was 3.1cm and they were 1.8cm(around). One of those smaller ones looks to me like male because of his mandibles are a bit like male and are bigger, I don`t get it how can males be so different in size, i mean i did read that they can be like that on wikipedia, but the smaller one would not have a chance. Do you think they are both female?

Yea, but are the smaller ones males or females? or mixed
aha...well yay i was right. I noticed that one`s mandibles are closer and when i put a small flower between her mandibles she was holding it like this http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/2577/zenkardzicvet.jpg , so that is another conformation that it is female since males can`t bite almost at all. I just wasn`t sure about the other small one because it looked like male but was too much smaller from the other one from the same species. Thanks.
anyway today i saw a female again but was the size of the this bigger male.
