Breeding L. elaphus

Chalcosoma
I have had a pice of wood in a tub of water for a few months now, I'm trying to get it ready for my l elaphus, but it's not soft enough. Any tips on how I can get a chunk of wood ready for larvae??? If its even possible

?? Are you saying your soaking a fresh piece of hard wood? If so your gonna be waiting a long while... Better to buy some or find already rotting would and treat it.

No it was partly rotten already, but it is still a little to hard. I'm try to figure out how I can make a partly rotten wood softer.

You have to wait for the fungus in the wood to do that, putting it in water won't help very much and may even prevent the correct fungus from growing. Best go out to the woods and find some more suitable wood.
