Is this going to be an issue?

I drilled a small hole in the bottom of my container I am rearing one of my beetle grubs in to let excess water drain out from when I moistened the media.  My grub found this hole 2 days ago, and although he can't fit through it, he has been biting at it non stop for the past two days ( it's making an annoying clicking sound).  I'm not worried about him escaping but I am a bit worried about the fact that he hasn't given up.  Should I put him in a new container, or will he eventually give up??

Yeah that seemed like a good idea so I did so.

Cool thing though, I tried to maybe scare it away from the hole by tapping it's head/jaws with some tweezers, and it started stridulating, was pretty cool since I never observed/heard that before.

Once they find a hole, it's over. I had to put all my Lucanus elephus in larger containers with less substrate so they couldn't reach the top lids, made

of softer plastic.

Change the container ASAP, make sure the substrate is not as damp. Just a lil tip, substrate should never be soaked in water. Just a slight dampness.

I feel like it needs to be pretty wet for rhino beetle larvae when they are almost ready to make pupal cells or they'll end up shrinking and dying at the top.

@Dynastes It shouldn’t be wet like this. @Dynastes TItyus hunter said it best I feel. If there is excessive water to drain, in my opinion, there is a bit too much water in the soil.
I understand it is hard quantify the difference between damp, very damp, slightly damp, totally damp, sopping damp, super damp, etc., but just a slight dampness "sounds" too dry.

If you damp it evenly it's ok because you can change it later but if you water the substrate slopping wet, you have to add more substrate and you have to keep distributing the substrate and the water once again.
