Yeah I kinda was tempted to take him home he was so beautiful. <3 I have bess beetles at the house but I decided to leave the clicker cuase I didn't know how to go about caring for them at the time.
Aww, well they are pretty easy to care for. They like fruits, particularly oranges, but will eat banana and apple as well.

Breeding is a bit more tricky, and the larva are extremely predatory and cannibalistic.

Well if they are large and look like that, then you are probably seeing Alaus grubs. Logs are their preferred habitat, as well as many other click beetles' habitats as well. Next time you see some you should collect them, and try to rear them to adulthood!

That sounds like a good plan! I gotta get some more containers though.

Yeah, they are pretty vicious! My A.melanops larva has been unable to chew out of a plastic peanut butter jar, so something like that would work nicely. Deli cups however would probably not hold them.
