D. tityus egg laying behavior

The female I acquired has chewed up some rotting wood and packed it loosely about an inch below the substrate. I know that this is how the lay their eggs, but when I checked her old container before I re-homed her I couldn't find any eggs. Could she just be getting it ready? Will she lay hours, days, or weeks after she builds the little sawdust packets?

Sounds strange, Dynastes females don't chew up wood.
I wonder what the heck she's doing then. lol

There were shards of wood and a nice cleaned off area on a block of decaying wood I had in with her.

Maybe there was a bit of food on it and she couldn't resist?
