Dragozap
I am thinking about catching a few with my new blacklight, where should I look for these buggers?
AlexW
Apparently restricted to certain areas within CA. Notorious for being extremely hard to find.
Dragozap
Any explicit information? They reside in the Algodones dunes, but I am not sure where
AlexW
Unfortunately, I do not specialize in dynastines. I think our admin Peter would know where to find them, given that he acquired the first livestock.
Dragozap
I wonder if I can tag him, if Peter is here, please, do help me out
AlexW
He barely posts on beetleforum anymore. You can contact him via bugsincyberspace.com, but apparently he is now most active on his bugsincyberspace Instagram channel. Good luck elephant-hunting! PowerHobo
Peter and I had a chat about this species a few weeks ago, and he was saying that they're pretty rare to find even dead, and finding them live is like winning a lottery. Pewrune
Never collected them myself. But I'm pretty sure if you go to the right spot and right time, you can find some. However, this kind of information is usually considered "secret" because of: 1. Money (more supplier, the price will drop) 2. Protect the species (so people from all over the world wont swarm) Megasoma punctulatus was considered rare for a very long time. but do you know if you go to the right place at right time, you can find 50~100 a day?
