AlexW
Yes, we all know gas station lights are great for catching dynastes and lucanus. Unfortunately, that benefit comes at a huge cost. Insects don't enjoy being lured to lights because it disrupts their instinct to fly toward the direction of the moon, so they feel disoriented. Many june bug species may actually die from exhaustion, being unable to escape. From what I've heard, insects can't see red light and are not too attracted to yellow LEDs. However the former is too ugly and the latter still attracts some insects. Ideas?
9-Volt
Yeah I've heard that insects and larger beetles aren't very attracted to LED's for some reason. It's a shame really since gas stations are now replacing their old lights with LED's I've noticed. However, I haven't been out and about enough to notice any difference.
