Where do I get rainbow stags?

I want to order 1 rainbow stag beetle to start me off with them.  I may breed them down the line but for now I want either a larva or 1 adult.  The only other beetles I have are 3 female bdfbs and 1 other unidentified darkling beetle in a desert terrarium so I’m not that experienced. I was gonna order them off of titan monsters but they’re all the way in Taiwan and they said it would take a week to get here and they can’t guarantee live arrival.  So I have 2 questions:

1. Will a rainbow stag beetle from titan monsters get to New York State alive?

2. Is there anywhere else to order rainbow stags right now?

Well I've ordered a pair of rainbow stag beetles from the titanbeetlemomster shop and they came in good condition. If you want to know how much their shipping is its around 30 dollars

I hope you are aware that Monster Titan sells illegal beetles to the U.S. You need a permit to import and export insects, dirt, and plants. Monster Titan puts fake labels on their packages to get them through customs, if caught you could face a big fine or worse depending on the severity.

Also consider that the package may get delayed during shipment and you could end up with a box of dead bugs when it gets to you.

Thank you for all the reply’s everyone.

I understand that it’s illegal but I guess I’ll just take the risk of owning one.  It’s not like they’ll care about 1 single beetle that can’t survive in my area anyway. I mean the gov might charge me a little but I think they’ll show mercy considering the circumstances.

As far as ordering one from Titan monsters though I probably won’t this time of year.  It’s starting to get pretty cold and I don’t want the beetle to die.   But it sounds like the beetle will come alive if I wait to order one when winters over.  If they still have any by that time then I’m guessing they’ll be young adults too which is more convenient for if you only want one animal.

Maybe I’ll just get some other species of beetle that can do better in relatively cold temperatures for a short time. Definitely got to order me another terrarium pet of some kind though.  Maybe an interesting spider.  Wanted a vampire crab the most but that probably wouldn’t make it through shipping either this time of year either.

I mean am I wrong about this whole cold weather/shipping situation or are my concerns valid?

  Again thanks for the replies.

It’s your own risk but some alternatives could e a lucanus stag beetle, also I think the fine could be larger than you would think due to it being a agricultural problem but not my choice to make.

How cold are we talking? The package isn't outside the whole time so I honestly think anything above 40F is ok. I could be wrong though.

Actually I was a little off. The temp is a little higher than that still. But it looks like there’s a clearing starting Tuesday where the temp is 42 degrees and it goes up to the sixties until Friday.

Any beetles that are not native to the USA are illegal without a permit.
You missed the 3 deregulated species of Goliathus, they are now legal in the USA.

I always wondered about TitanMonster Beetles, but after speaking with a Saturniidae breeder who said he knew several persons

who got caught importing beetle livestock, was a very large nail in that coffin. Fines in 6 figures and increased scrutiny/probation.

All the particulars of that, I don't know the who, what, when or how, but that sounded like a substantially bigger risk than importing

Saturniidae ova or cocoons. The risk of buying from a business as opposed to an individual.

Sorry I forgot about those I don’t get if those are legal then why are other species not.
The reason is posted somewhere on the web, at any rate- Apparently in 2016, 3 species, goliatus, regius and cau...something were deregulated. One individual was

instrumental in making this happen, I'm sorry I don't remember his name. Anyway, because Goliath larva eat only protein, and the adults eat only sap, that they

have to get from tree wounds made by other animals and cannot damage trees as adults, and their larva will starve without a protein diet, the 3 species were

deregulated. Those reasons are why we will never see any other non-native beetle species available legally in the USA, unless you have a permit. Maybe a permit is

worth it, but personally, I don't want the feds crawling that far up my leg.

Someone here knows, maybe through Fish and Wildlife, you could probably do an internet search. I'm not endorsing any search engines.

I am pretty sure I read some postings detailing the steps somewhere in the forum.
