Violin beetles question.

Mormolyce spp. are highly specialized carabids (ground beetles) that are adapted to living on and under tree bark.  The adults and larvae are predators that feed on the larvae of other insects.  The larvae live between layers of bracket fungi of the genus Polyporus.  Larval development time is 8 months or longer, and pupation takes a further 8 weeks or more.  Adults are active between August - November.  Mormolyce can secrete butyric acid as a defense.  I've not seen any reports of captive breeding of any of the 5 species.  The larvae look like this -
