The beetles that watch me . . .

Acro

Cerambycidae
I have some Mallodon dasystomus and I am amazed at how aware they are of my presence. They watch me and react when I come by. They also have huge eyes (which is a good reason as to why they can see so well), which made me wonder: Why do they need to see so well? They aren't hunters, at least, that I know of. Any thoughts?

Since they are prionids and emerge in large numbers at the same time, perhaps they would need to be extra wary of predators?
