Texas iron clad beetle set up.

I have recently acquired two Texas iron clad beetles and I got lichen for their food but I'm not able to find much of a care guide regarding their substrate and humidity. I bought them a long side other desert beetles but I was told they have different requirements?

Hello, sadly, Texas ironclad beetles can be hard to breed. I’ve tried it a few times but failed. Luckily, they are fairly easy to care for and long-lived (I had an individual that lasted for 3 years). The adults will readily feed on lichen, but I’ve observed mine feeding on jelly as well. As for the humidity, they are extremely strong and hardy and not too picky. I keep mine with my other desert beetles, which are many different species. With communal enclosures, I would recommend a moisture gradient (just in case). Be sure to provide some wood as ironclads in general like hanging out there. In summary, lichen, jelly, wood, and a moisture gradient with a bone-dry side of the enclosure.

Good luck!

I don't think anyone has figured out how or where to get them to lay eggs.
