surfacing Allomyrina dichotoma larvae

first of all im not sure if they are l2 or l3 when i got them they were l2 that was 27 days ago so there is that question and recently have started coming up to the surface then staying the for about 30 mins then going back down can you help please

they may be rejecting the substrate, although Ive never heard of A. d. ever being picky. the humidity may be high, or if your top is glass and closed they may not be receiving oxygen.

I'm in the uk so the humidity is alright I checked the top is made for them so the lid has loads of holes they are l3 and u have to only the one does it and they kept in the same tank

The description does not mention rotted leaves, most of the substrate I use is consistent of a 60/40 ratio of rotted oak and leaves.

if temps get too high that can make them surface as well as lack of oxygen in some cases
