Never said i was raising them in it... It's in the egg laying box it's not the substrate I'm planning on using.
Yeah but you were going to use it in the breeding setup, which would mean the larvaebeing in it for about 1-3 months depending how early you remove the larvae. and white rot doesn't benefit odontolabis ime and from what I've read, rhe adults oviposit in substrate just fine without logs why change that?
 
I've found Odontolabis siva parryi from Taiwan in both Logs and under logs.

I suspect they make tunnels and use them to move in and out of the logs. Therefore, I mixed decayed flakes with high decayed flakes when I raised those Taiwanese ones. Make sure you don't break their tunnels in L3.

Yea they will chew on the logs but they are not able to live in it as a staple diet, I'm talking about white rot, since most of the breeding logs people talk about are white rot.
