Rugose Stag Beetle

I found this little guy in a fallen and rotting log, last Saturday. I went on a hike with my son through our local park and found a fallen tree that was just flaking apart...PERFECT for beetles! I've never found this particular species, but I did actually have it in mind as a local friend had found some over on the other side of town, last summer. Well, check out my newest pet bug!
