Repashy Diets?

Just to make it clear, I have zero experience and am just doing research at the moment. Hope you guys don't mind the question! I've been using Repashy MRP for my Crested Geckos and the superveggie on my iguana's food for quite some time now, and they market quite a few products that I have confidence in as far as nutruition goes. Has anyone here used their products to feed beetles or tried it? Do any of the products seem like they would be suited to it?

The bug burger and gel (sold in powder form) fish foods remind me of the beetle jellies, and there are several variations to cater to critters with different nutritional needs. I do have an ulterior motive of less shopping stops, but this is more out of curiosity than anything. The part of the site with articles on ingredients, nutruitional info etc is here

I feel as if I have seen this question a few times with no real answer. I have no feeding adult beetles right now so I can't yet try it myself.

I would place some in the container and also add an additional food source. It will be clear if they are attracted to it. Since it is designed for insects I would be surprised if it did any harm.

After all when beetle jelly is advertised they say it can be used for all insects.. I feel like these products you mention may work the same way.

They're not beetles, but my roaches love the Crested Gecko Diet. It is one of their most eagerly consumed foods and it tends to get crowded and vanish much faster than even fresh, porous fruits. They get at least a little daily along with fresh foods.

I would think that if nothing else, beetles would adore having the flavoring powders mixed in with their regular foods. The flavor only powders are essentially dehydrated and pulverized fruit with no additives, could be easier to keep around than fresh fruits. I think they've discontinued the flavor-only powders but they are still available through a lot of places as back stock.

The downside to CGD or any related powder supplements would be the attendance time. If it sits long enough to congeal, it becomes very difficult to clean out. It also attracts fruit flies en mass when not consumed quickly, more so that fresh fruits. Perhaps combining it with flavorless gelatin would be a good way to make home made beetle jellies.

i know that the powder can be eaten dry by many animals... my cresties used to eat it dry and it made it last longer and with less waste because it didnt dry out into a brick anymore. not sure if beetles could eat it dry or not though...

I have wondered the same thing. My day gecko used to eat some of that stuff, and the pet store people acted like it was a top-of-the-line brand. The day gecko was on a fruit flavored diet, which I think some beetles might be attracted to. I'd give it a shot.

I was just about to post a similar topic but I figured I might as well rejuvenate this thread. I am currently breeding crested geckos and they are on the Repashy CGD so I was wondering if it would work for my adult L. capreolus? Here are the ingredients and nutrition facts:

Ingredients:

Pea Protein Isolate, Germinated Brown Rice Protein Concentrate, Stabilized Rice Bran, Dried Honey, Fructose, Flax Seed Meal, Schizochytrium Algae (source of DHA), Dried Fig, Dried Date, Alfalfa Leaf Meal, Dried Kelp, Spirulina Algae, Calcium Carbonate, Malic Acid, Taurine, Natural Fruit Flavors, Rosehips, Calendula Flower, Marigold Flower Extract, Phaffia Rhodozyma Yeast, Paprika Extract, Turmeric, Potassium Citrate, Guar Gum, Salt, Magnesium Gluconate, Canthaxanthin, Calcium Propionate and Potassium Sorbate (as mold inhibitors), Rosemary Extract and Mixed Tocopherols (as preservatives), Lecithin, Vitamins (Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D Supplement, Choline Chloride, Ascorbic Acid Phosphate, Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Beta Carotene, Pantothenic Acid, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Thiamine Mononitrate, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex, Folic Acid, Biotin, Vitamin B-12 Supplement).

Guaranteed Analysis:

Crude Protein (min.) 27%, Crude Fat (min.) 7%, Crude Fat (max.) 9%, Crude Fiber (max.) 6%, Moisture (max.) 8%, Ash (max.) 5%, Calcium (min.) 1.2%, Calcium (max.) 1.4%, Phosphorus (min.) 0.6%, Vitamin E (min.) 100 IU/lb, Vitamin D (min.) 1000 IU/lb, Vitamin A (min.) 10,000 IU/lb.

I know above it was mentioned it attracts flies readily but that wouldn't be an issue because I use .5 oz plastic cups and make new diet for the geckos many times a week.

Any thoughts?
