Raising Pachnoda marginata

I am raising Pachnoda marginata AKA Taxicab or Sun beetles and was wondering how to keep them breeding. I am keeping them in a 10 gallon terrarium with about 8 inchces of compost substrate and feeding them dead leaves and a honey/banana mash with fish flakes. I read about keeping other Flower beetles such as Jade headed Buffalo beetles and they are supposed to be sorted out by larvel stages, pupaes and adults. Is that the same for all Flower beetles?

Hi, Pachnoda marignata are easy to breed.

The Substrate for the Grubs, is Forest compost (decayed Oak leafes)

great. You can give the grubst some fruits (Apple, bannana, no citrus).

Not too much fruits or you get a mites Empire.

You can hold the stages together, P. marginata are not cannibalistic.

The imaginies (adults) are climber , give them Wood sticks to clib.

And some Times they Fly, so they need to the top, Space to Fly.

12 h / Day, they need light. Use a Spot to get 77 degres F. tempature.

Hold the substrate not to wet and not to dry.

Thats all.

Greetings,

Mashku.

How much substrate should I be using? Right now I have it about 8 cm deep.
