Also, you should be able to collect P. vindex and P. difformis in your area. I collected P.d. west of town in the hill country.

If you plan on breeding, make sure you have at least a foot and a half of substrate. This species loves to burrow. From my experience on breeding these, a mixture of clay and sand was what produced the best results.

 
These posts are very helpful! I have them in a temp tub right now, I plan to go get a deep tub tonight for them.

For collecting, where and how are the best places to look?

 
I'll see if I can find the name of the park (I lived there for a while but moved in 2002). It wasn't too far west of town, it had a pier over water and an area with a row of pecan trees. The same spot was also good for Canton and Pasimachus. I would check dog scat, people seemed to bring their dogs there quite a bit. If you move a piece and see a dime-sized hole, or small mounds of fresh soil right next to the scat - carefully dig and you should find some. You could try baiting with purposefully placed dung too. Will post back if I find the name..
