Protein?

Yeah, it's always surprising how much they can hold in their mouths as they try to cart it off to privately hog it all to themselves. I really like the feeding response of these beetles and they can chow through a surprising amount of food. The fish foods are expensive, so I definitely like to supplement with other, cheaper foods.

 
I use tetracolor fish flakes with all my tropical fish, so I have to buy it anyways. So I might as well feed it to everything else

They are showing more interest in the different fruits and dried fruits today though, about five are eating them and the rest are all in the dish eating dry foods

When I got these beetles from you I never thought they would be this active all the time (especially during feedings

The Darkling beetles remind me of my guinea pigs. I make salads for the guinea pigs and an itty bitty salad for the beetles. The guinea pigs run to their dish grab food and run back to their little hidey houses and the beetles run to their dish grab food and just run. My son and I watched 4 beetles fight over an apple for almost 15 minutes last night. The beetles too funny.

Its also kind of funny when the beetles try to carry something way too big, like a piece of fig or something. They just sit there "burning rubber"

 
protein for what ?

The Grubs or the Imago ?

For the Imago are Jelly No. 1 !

Sorts like Lactic Acid are the best for the female´s they ned it for prodcuce Eggs.

For the Grubs are additive like silkworm powder in the mate (Flake Soil with a little bit Silkworm powder).

I was talking about nutrients and protein for adult beetles and other inverts.

They seem to like what I am giving them now. I would like to get the jelly but can't right now.

 
So try to give Yogurt + Marple Syrup + Bannana, mix it.

And let it not to long in the Container, its draw Drosophila.

 
I had to take all fruits out of the Eleodes, they had mites on them or something. So for now they will have dry foods so the mites don't come back right away.
