Hello!

My name is Yves, 39 (the first French/european member on this forum!). I live in South west France, near Toulouse (country of wine and foie gras!)

I love breeding cetoniidae and dynastidae beetles. I also love gardening nature, walking, house restauration/refurbishing, decoration. I work in agronomic research area

I already have nearly 100 species in breed (see below).

Sorry fo not having responded directly to your post

I love all of them!! (I know, it is not reasonable

), including US Dynastes granti and tityus, not big but colorfull with nice spots

In deed, I have some friend from all the world and we exchange beetles

Hi, 2 hours per day + a bit more on wednesday when my son helps me.

What are the species you breed?

I collect beetles but I don't breed them. Saves a lot of time

. My parents don't like the my brilliant idea of breeding beetles

. But i would like to start breeding and suitable "starter" would be Dicronorhina micans. In the future i would like to breed goliathus goliathus, dynastes hercules hercules and propably megasoma elephas elephas when i have the chance.

I've experimented with oryctes nasicornis but without success.

My wife does not like it too much too!!!! but our son (8) love them! This is my chance!

4 flower beetles: Oxythyrea funesta

We have found about 3100 species of beetles but we think that number could be 4000

because we haven't found them all yet and we don't have many entomologists and coleopterists

About: 100 longhorns (cerambycidae)

1000 rove beetles (staphylinidae)

290 ground beetles (carabidae)

80 scaraboidae

65 scolytidae

400 curculionidae

110 dytiscidae

260 chrysomelidae

50 coccinellidae

40 cantharidae

70 elateridae

We had 5 species but a certain Russian tsar (Peter the first) chopped downa lot of oak forests in 18th century and so Lucanus cervus dissapeared from our forests in 20th century
