Phloeodes diabolicus

Just an ironclad I have been keeping for...awhile(I find them often, too). Very fun, convincing when playing dead, and super hard exoskeleton(that will bend #7 pins

)!

These only get to be about 1 inch, occasionally a bit larger or smaller. They are very active wanderers though, and make very entertaining captives.

I have witnessed mating and oviposition but I have not observed larvae so I can make no claim to having bred them. I have four of these guys at the moment, Im sure I will come across more soon, lol.

I have six of these guys. How many do you have, and have you bred them? They are interesting beetles. I am selling them, if anyone wants some.
Can you sell a sexed pair? How much are they? I used to catch them years ago for my entomology class at Cal Poly. They feel like they are made out of wood, don't they? Very rough exoskeleton as I remember. Right?
