Phalacrognathus muelleri

I have a pair of rainbow stags and I need to breed them. I don't have any flake soil right now, but I am planning to make some. I am wondering if I can have the female lay eggs into coconut fiber, but I will remove the eggs before they will hatch. Then I will place them in flake soil where they can eat to their heart's content. Do you think this will work? Thanks for the help.

The female will only lay eggs into flake soil or wood. Coconut fiber won't work. Your best bet is to buy flake soil or an oyster mushroom growing kit for egg laying.

Thanks. So about the mushrooms, I was wondering what kit to buy. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Back-to-the-Roots-Organic-Mushroom-Grow-Kit-11006/301075905 I found this kit from home depot but I was wondering if I can buy it for the beetles. Also how much would I need and how would I set it up. Would it be enough to raise the larvae or just for the egg laying. I am looking to raise major males.
That kit should work as long as the substrate inside is hardwood. If the substrate is made of straw or other materials, it will not work. You can put the kit on top of some cocofiber and the female will work her way inside the kit to lay eggs. You are going to need more substrate down the line if you wanna raise larvae.

Oh ok. so should I just compact the fiber and just place the block on top or should I dig a hole and put it in. Also, what size breeding box should I use? Thank you so much for all the help.

I think putting the block on top should work just fine. If the block dries out fast it would be better to dig a hole and put it in. Size of the breeding box shouldn't matter too much.

Thanks. The mushroom kit doesn't say if it is hardwood. Should I just go to the store and check it out myself? Or should I just order flake soil fromm titan monster beetle shop. I was thinking about ordering some larave and a pair of stag beetles. Thanks!
