Odd spot on D.hercules larvae.

Hey guys.

So someone on Reddit has a D.hercules with this odd spot on it Link, the person is worried about the larvae's health and whether or not it is fatal or if it would negatively impact the larvae during growth. If you have a Reddit account then it would be beneficial to post what you think on the post, if not I told the user that I would ask you guys to see what your thoughts are and let them know.

It's not uncommon for beetle larvae to occasionally get spots like that - usually the result of melanin deposition in response to a superficial skin infection or minor injury.  They don't impact the larva's health, however if such spots become numerous, this might indicate that there is an issue with the substrate (e.g., nutrient overload).  Less commonly, such spots can be due to a pathogenic disease (e.g., caused by microscopic coccidial parasites such as Adelina spp.).
