New guy from Orlando

hello guys, new member from Orlando,FL. Got into this hobby to start collecting US species like Dynastes granti and tityus. Hope to learn much here.

if you live by d.tityus, you are very lucky... i get only small but cute rugose stag beetles

I've been looking for D. tityus since last year but no luck. However I have found Strategus species near where I live.

Have you tried rearing the Stategus anteus?

I currently have one live female Antaeus waiting to see if she lays eggs. I also have 4 eggs from an S. splendens that were laid 2 weeks ago.

yeah,but you also have the awesome omus tiger beetles,pterostichus(spelling)ground beetles

ya... omus are pretty awesome... p.lama beetle only feed at night so they are not really fun to keep.

saying of ground beetles... i was removing mites from slug eater beetle and one sprayed a hot load of acid on my face.... it burns~~~~~ ._. i dont handle them anymore...

yeah, that acid can be a problem

,i never get too close to any of my ground beetles........ya never know when they will fart
