mealworms

Can yellow mealworms be kept like normal darklings? I hate the smell of their enclosure with the oats in it, so I am wondering if they can be kept and bred in coconut fiber like normal darklings? Thanks in advance!

I'm sure this is possible, but it isn't the oats - mealworms seem to naturally have foul smell about them, and if you think the oats themselves don't smell good, you can try wheat bran.

I have already moved them and they are reproducing. The smell has gone, I think the oatmeal went bad in their cage. Also the oatmeal was infested with mites so i had to move them. I'm keeping them in coconut fiber mixed with sand and dead leaves. Thanks!
