Maple Syrup Colors (Grades)

Acro

Cerambycidae
There are several colors (grades) of maple syrup, commonly called light, medium and dark. The colors (grades) are based on the time of year that the syrup is harvested.

Does this have any importance when being feed to beetles?

Also, when feeding beetles, why is it suggested to water down pure maple syrup?

I'm not sure, I think you'd want it richer. So dark but then again mid-grade might be closer to beetle season in the US. . .

You should dilute. 2 to 1 or 1 to 1. Maple syrup to water. More economical and more natural. Maple syrup = tree sap thats boiled down, so I assume it'd be to high powered for them. Really though for me, I just don't want to pay 20 dollars for maple syrup every month.
